Maintaining Your Golf Clubs

Keeping your golf clubs properly maintained is essential to their long-term use and to how well they perform, if they look good then they will play well. You may think that the professionals don’t need to know how to keep their club’s looking good but actually when you are playing at a top-level you will be carrying out the same maintenance on your clubs as the pros.

If you find your golf club has a dirty appearance or feel then there are a number of things you can do to get it looking as good as new again. First of all, before you actually start washing it you will want to store it into a garage or shed where you can leave it out of the elements and dry it out completely. Next, you may want to clean the head of the club by hand using a soft cloth or an old towel, but it’s best to use a club cleaner that will make sure the head of the club looks clean as well as being safe. You can find these in your local golf course supplies shop and they are relatively inexpensive. A Large Ultrasonic Cleaner is another effective way to clean golf clubs. One thing that many people forget about when cleaning their clubs is that they should rinse them out after every game they play. The reason for this is because some of the dirt and debris left behind by other players may not be visible but if you don’t rinse your club after each game then you may end up with more dirt and debris building up on the head as well as on the shaft. Another reason why a golfer should rinse his club after each game is because some of the dirt and debris left behind will actually break down the shaft over time, making the head feel stiff and in turn reducing the power of the shot.
